How do I make a Pokédex binder?

Updated 15 Oct 2026 · Prices: Cardmarket, 30-day average

A Pokédex binder has one pocket per Pokémon, in National Pokédex order, from Bulbasaur (No. 1) to No. 1025. For all 1,025 Pokémon you need 114 pages with 9 pockets each (57 sheets), so 3 binders of 360 pockets. Using the cheapest card for each Pokémon, the complete Pokédex costs about €138.

Step by step

  1. Set the scope. All generations or only some. Many start with Generation 1 (151 Pokémon, 17 pages) and grow from there.
  2. Choose the format. 114 pages with 9 pockets per page, 86 with 12. If every generation starts on a new page, you need 117 9-pocket pages.
  3. Set a rule for the card. The cheapest card per Pokémon, illustrations only, vintage only or your favourite. A fixed rule keeps the pages consistent.
  4. Decide on forms. Alolan, Galarian and Mega forms have no Pokédex number of their own. Leave them out or collect them on extra pages at the end of each generation.
  5. Print placeholders. A placeholder with number, name and image for every missing Pokémon. The order is set at once, and every new card already has its spot.

How much does a Pokédex binder cost?

For 1,025 of 1,025 Pokémon the catalogue has at least one card with a Cardmarket price. Taking the cheapest per Pokémon, the whole Pokédex costs about €138 (30-day average); for 995 Pokémon the cheapest card is under 50 cents. It only gets expensive when you want a specific card — say the best Pikachu card instead of the cheapest.

Other ways to sort are compared in the guide how to organise a binder.
