Pokémon set value: which price counts

Updated 15 Oct 2026 · Prices: Cardmarket, 30-day average

What is a Pokémon set worth? The question sounds simple, but the answer depends on which price you use. Here is which number works, how to calculate and why the value almost always sits in a handful of cards.

Which price is the right one?

Cardmarket shows several values per card. Using the Base Set Charizard (unlimited) as an example:

ValueCharizard, Base SetWhat it is good for
From price€95Cheapest offer, often poor condition
Trend€107Current direction, jumps with few sales
7-day average€423Short term, sensitive to single expensive sales
30-day average€766Calmest value, good for collection value and comparisons

For the value of a set or collection the 30-day average is the most honest number. It reacts more slowly, but one outlier does not distort it.

How to calculate a set's value

  1. Take the 30-day average of every card in the set, in the language and variant you collect.
  2. Add them up. If a price is missing, leave it out and say so rather than guessing.
  3. For real cards, account for condition: prices are for Near Mint, played cards fetch clearly less.

Example: Prismatic Evolutions

All 180 cards together: €3,719. The ten most expensive of them: €2,768, 74 %. 123 cards are under €1 and together cost €23. A set's value almost always sits in a handful of illustrations; the rest is filler. The top five:

  1. Umbreon ex (161), Special illustration rare: €1,074
  2. Sylveon ex (156), Special illustration rare: €303
  3. Leafeon ex (144), Special illustration rare: €222
  4. Espeon ex (155), Special illustration rare: €209
  5. Vaporeon ex (149), Special illustration rare: €186
